I thought I would pass out when I was quoted the price for having my car towed in off the highway. My mouth hung open in shock. The very perceptive gentleman told me I should have had breakdown cover on my insurance policy. I vaguely remembered being offered that and blowing it off. Who buys insurance thinking they are going to break down? For that matter, who buys it thinking there will be an accident? That all goes against having a positive outlook on life, doesn’t it? But I was feeling positively sick as I wrote the check to cover the fees for the towing alone. I was afraid to talk to the mechanic.

Yes, my agent explained to me that my car might undergo a mechanical failure of some sort. In my mind, I was already planning how I would make sure this never did happen and how I certainly did not need to pay a little extra fee each month in regards to breakdown cover. I would have my tires checked regularly, keep gas in my car full at all times, my check engine light would never have cause to light up and whatever else. After all, I have a mechanic and it’s his responsibility to make sure I never break down. Then I went and locked my keys inside my car.

We are a family that is busy and often going in all directions at once. My son recently became a licensed driver and that meant we had one more person who could assist in the many trips we need to take to events and errands. I chose to give him my car and find a new one for myself. I asked my husband to find a place near our home where I could find a new car and he located a Renault dealers that is just minutes from our home. I shopped there and found the one that was right for me.

Even little things like speeding tickets do add up to make you pay more expensive rates over time. You’ll be helping yourself by obeying all traffic laws at all times.

We ended up stuck with my brother in law’s delinquent car loan awhile back and really just wanted to be done with the problem. He stopped paying and we had to be responsible. We initially intended to take it to a used car supermarket and get an offer. However, instead, we went through the bank and ended up taking it to the auction block. We are still paying on the remainder of the balance, which is a huge pain in the rear. However, there is really nothing we can do about it but live and let live and learn from the mistake.

With three children and one on the way, our car decided to break down at the most inopportune time. We have very little money to spare and will have to beg, borrow or steal the down payment needed for a new one. My husband wants us to look at some used Car Dealers, but I think we’d be better off in the long run just getting a new one. We have to come up with a down payment any way you look at it. I feel we might as well get one we know will last us. He’s worried about the monthly payments though.

You’ll bring down your auto insurance premium if you have an outstanding credit rating. Folks who have bad credit pay higher premiums for all forms of insurance and that is also true for auto insurance. The simple reason for this is that there’s a general consensus among many insurers that there’s a link between poor credit histories and high risks. For some insurance carriers it shows a pattern they believe you’re quite likely to repeat with them in premium defaults. Once you’re seen as a higher risk you’ll invite more expensive auto insurance premiums.

There’s nothing smaller than a smart car.  Most people will remember that when first released, the smart was decried as being simply too small, an unsafe option due to its diminutive size.  But then, they said the same thing about the Mini, and look at how that turned out…Small doesn’t have to mean unsafe, and the smart car has from its inception set out to tackle the issue of a smaller crumple zone.  The cell that protects the occupants has received high ratings on safety, so we can be sure that in a few more years the little smart car may well be as iconic as the aforementioned supermini! If you want to get ahead of the trend, a used smart car will help you save money without any compromise on quality.
