An Opinion On “Verizon Employees to Return to Work”

Excellent point, Bob. Health insurance became an employee benefit post WW II in order to get around wage/price controls. The unions wrapped their slimy fingers around it and never let go. It then spread to the non-union workforce as well.
We don’t lose our auto insurance when we lose a job. We don’t lose our life insurance when we lose a job. Why should health and physical fitness articles insurance be tied to employment? Why should Congress provide tax incentives for people to get health insurance through their employer? Once again, the govt sticks their nose into something and screws it up. If people bought health insurance individually on a competitive basis, yes, it would be cheaper and better. Just like you see ads for auto insurance from GEICO, Allstate, Progressive, etc, all competing for your business, we could see the same thing for health insurance as well if only the private individual market were allowed to work.
Of course, some people think I’m radical and extreme for even suggesting something so blasphemous.
