I am not currently part of any sort of mobile workforce unless you count the fact that my office chair has wheels on it that allow me to scoot around the office when I get bored. Then yes I am quite mobile at work. I also occasionally get up to make a cup of coffee even though the coffee here is not all that great. I used to be a part of a mobile workforce though when I was an electrician in a former life about five years ago. Back then we drove around all over town building new houses and repairing old houses. I would qualify that as a mobile workforce.

One of the great things about a mobile workforce from a logistical standpoint is the obvious fact that they are not tied down to a specific location. This means that if a job should arise outside of the area in which the mobile workforce currently is then they could just pick up and go to that site. This broadens the scope of the potential work spaces for the mobile workforce and consequently increases revenue streams for the entire company.

But for me personally the best part of being part of a mobile workforce was simply the constantly changing venues. It did a lot for my personal morale and interest in the job to be able to pick up and move to a new location every month or so. Once the job is completed the mobile workforce disappears and begins anew somewhere else. Sure the mobile workforce has to sacrifice personalizing their cubicle with pictures of cats and still life paintings of flowers. But for some being part of the mobile workforce and being constantly on the go is far more favorable than remaining at one consistent location.
